The first Sacred Heart Church Barbecue was in 1933 at the Butters Ranch east of Brawley and served 200 meals. Ninety years later the  parish tradition continues to serve over 3,500 meals. The barbecue committee and parishioners volunteer numerous hours organizing and preparing the meal.
